Elegy For Superman

Day Three of NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo:  The challenge?  To write an elegy.  I opted for an elegy for Superman based on the multiple issue death of Superman cycle that was written in the 1990s.
Elegy For Superman
by Michael Romani
The story wouldn’t end
In the usual sort of way
Doomsday killed our super friend
And all faith was blown away

We had a funeral for our friend
And put it away in the museum
As an unnatural history come to end
And placed in a faithless mausoleum

In a sense of heroic trinity
There was magic in three
For a world lost in consternation
It was a well borne hallucination

Superman returns to save the day
In a reign of precious supermen
It’s the truth of a juster way
One that’s needed now as it was then
