History is all explained by geography. -Robert Penn Warren, novelist and poet (24 Apr 1905-1989)

In coming to a more full understanding of what a particular person thought, it is useful to know a little about them. It sets the context.
In reading on Mr. Warren, I reviewed his biography and found some surprises. First, that he was best known as a Pulitzer Prize winning poet. I had always known him first as the writer of All the King’s Men. Secondly, that his heritage in America runs about as deep as my own. He was descended from a colonel who served the American Cause in our revolution.
