Yesterday, Ally and I were blessed enough to be invited to watch a show written and produced by a friend of ours. It was a truly wonderful presentation filled with poetry, songs, dance and focused on telling the tale of Australia. In particular, it was a story about the Australian Bush way of life more than any other aspect.
The gentleman who invited us is a friend of mine going back about a year now. He is a hero in my eyes for his service to his country, Australia. He is also a musician and quite the poet. I was mesmerized as he began to tell his tale of the great southern land, Australia.
We had met at a poetry reading that I was giving in a virtual environment called Second Life. Gathered around my poetry circle at Aloha Promises Forever, I was reading from Shakespeare and other masters of literature that helped form and develop Western Civilization. He asked to hear some of my originals and so I offered up what I had. In turn, he shared a couple he had written. There’s not a doubt in my mind just how talented he is or how written his tales of the Australian Bush are.
The long and the short of this is that his show reminded me of an invitation that he extended to me. This was to join a Bush Poetry group that he has up on the web. Some technical difficulty or another had prevented me from joining when he was originally kind enough to offer. But this time around having been thoroughly wowed by the work he did on this show of his, I was determined.
Tonight, I am equally determined to share his site and give it a little bit of publicity. He deserves at least that much for the kindness he has shown me along our paths and the gift of his friendship in sharing the blessing of his poetry and good nature.
This way if some of you might want to learn about this rare community of poets who tell the story of the spirit of Australia, you too can take a look at a brave and good people and their way of life. I am sure you will find it blessing as I have. With all the comfortable, good nature of these people, I am sure there these are tales worth hearing. These are told in words well expressed. I am absolutely certain these will touch your soul as they have mine.
Come sit a spell and read the words found at this site and come to better understand the universality of mankind’s dreams, hopes, tears, and prayers. I think you’ll find it worth your while and maybe, just maybe, share a smile or two along the way. The spirit of Australia is a song worth singing loudly as we share it together.
