Epistrophe: Legend (In My Own Time)

The second poem from tonight is:

Legend (In My Own Time)
by Michael Romani

Feeling a little jaded
All the memories are faded
Of how we blazed across the strings
Hoping for the stardom it would bring
And now my temples turn to gray
Legend in my own time
A legend in my own mind
At least that's what you say

We thought we'd live forever
With witty repartee, we felt clever
Certain that we had something to say
As we gave it all away (gave it all away)
Living for tomorrow, holding on to yesterday
Like a legend in my own time
A legend in my own mind
At least that's what you say

Stage lights glare shined down
Starlight's thorny jester's crown
Jukebox heroes one and all
We each heeded the piper's call
Seems like only yesterday
As a legend in my own time
A legend in my own mind
At least that's what you say

Just today, I watched my children
Boogie on down to a tune from then
I can see it in their passionate eyes
It's not so hard to see and recognize
It's turned full circle, just like yesterday
I've become a legend n my own time
A sort of legend in my own mind
I heard them laughing, at what you say
