Living Repentance

Wednesday nights, Ally and I attend church at the House of Prayer.  Tonight’s sermon was on Acts 3:19-20.

The following poem is based on the sermon heard tonight and wrapped in a poem.

Living Repentance
by Michael Romani

Incomparable embrace
Saved through His grace
Living in his arms
Escaping from the harms
That the world gives
Through us and above us
He loves and he lives
Lord help us, Jesus

The times we have spent
On our knees praying to repent
In recognition of our sins
Hoping to defeat these again
All of us  at moments stumble
Finding strength while we struggle
Though our whole world might crumble
He give us strength, least we bungle

Silent tears swell to fill our eyes
As we turn away and recognize
The wrongs that we turn away
To blot out temptations and to stay
Living deep in our repentance
We dance the Lord's sacred dance
Turning our souls to our prayers
Is like climbing heaven's stairs

Putting away our ways of rebellion
Down the paths we're traveling
Learning to love and forgive
Gaining perspective to really live
Becoming one with God's family
Serving others so happily
Counting all the blessings
Giving our all in its confessing

Pierce the defenses for repentance
And dance with me this dance
There in the Lord's presence
We find our refreshing essence
Given to each so very freely
As we hold each other as family
Live with me this repentance
And dance with me in His dance
