Expecting a Mother’s Day related sermon this Sunday, it caught my attention fairly strongly when instead the sermon was based on 2nd Corinthians 6:2:

A New Direction by Michael Romani When you repent You take a new direction Asking God to relent And accepting his correction Nothing says to continue Doing whatever you do But it is said to renew And in this find a new you Shrouded and missed Through salvation kissed His words upon the page Set us on our stage For the capability Of living to our capacity If only we would Live in the peace of the Good Instead we walk in conflict One since Eden and we can predict That there is no perfection In the path of man's direction Spinning on the edge of calamity Instead of gliding through reality Like ducks on a pond with feet kicking Under the surface hearts are ticking Choosing crazy sorts of choices Listening to our addictive voices In the fallen nature of man Trying so hard and doing what we can Though Jesus loves to be forgiving We are responsible for what we're living We are sinners by birth and choice Ignoring holiness for temptation's voice We know that this is all too true These are the deliberate choices The choices made by me and you We need to listen to other voices Those of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost Heeding these in our hearts at most Or face our own path of responsibility As we shape our own jaded reality Sin takes its job perhaps very seriously While God counters this mysteriously We stand in life broken beyond repair Like pickled cucumber some might compare Unable to un-pickle our unclean selves We might seek wisdom from the shelves It's not through ourselves that we can fix The crooked path of Satan's tricks Despite all of our humble sincerity Let the Word provide its clarity That our desires to do what is good Yet, it's not that we do though we would A failed path that is not made right Try though we would with all our might The only solution is to be made anew Growing into Jesus as a new you He went to the cross that we might Be born again and our lives made right Desperate clutches replaced by hope God extends His grace filled rope Filling our lives with a new sort of nature One that takes a child and makes us mature There in that mirror that's been revealing We now see blessed signs of God's indwelling Grafted on us to produce our good fruit Living in God's love and joy filled pursuits The roots still bitterly hinder our new ways Unless we carefully cultivate our new days Living up to our fullest sense of the Providential It's a blessing in coming to our full potential All around we see and live in a sin sick world One in which the banners of Satan are unfurled And held up as the strange standards to live by There are the things that are enough to make me cry Tears in my eyes, I fight this battle on my knees In prayer, nurturing the ways that I know will please Spiritual desires focused on that which is wholly Him No longer overruled by my every unholy whim Chaos replaced by the order and peace By surrendering my ways to God's sweet release And so, it's up to us to put on this new life Living as a disciple of love and not strife Walking our path and nurturing this light In Jesus's name we boldly seek to do right (c) May 14, 2017 Michael Romani
