Mother's Day 2017, Part III
by Michael Romani
As rare and true as a mother's love
Only second to that of God above
Is a gift that has blessed each of us
Given to each as a just because
That's what a mother does
That's what a mother does

A mother's love burns to take you higher
A light in the night is her burning for fire
For her children she will always shine
Such was the love of that mother of mine
Flowing there along like a balloon in the breeze
Floating us up higher than the forest trees

Love flowing like a fountain overflowing
Always seeing, caring and always knowing
The little touches that we need
A deeper Band-Aid for when we bleed
A mother's love is always there
Holding us close and oh so near

A mother's love is always dear to the heart
Maybe because she's been there from the start
Always willing to play that second part
As she has that moment of the very start
Not a heart beat skips that she does not hear
Such is the closeness forever near

A mother's love shimmers as it simmers
Even as her ancient eyes grow ever dimmer
Slowly enfolding into the our deep
Tears of love are the only that she'll weep
Speaking words of love that spill from her tongue
No matter how old, we are her forever young

A mother's love embraces the past and the future
Always seeking new ways that she might help and nurture
Teaching those things that she knows we will need
In every moment's creation she yearns to plant the seeds
Finding in the past, the path her best guess at your future
Knowing only that she needs to help and be there to nurture

Still a mother's love accepts you just as you are
Shielding you from the hurts that might leave a scar
Hoping upon hope that you might find your way
She lets you know she's there every day
Singing your praises and offering serenity
In a mother's prayer offered up to divinity
