Based on the American Revolution and John Jay’s reflections on same:

God Given Liberty by Michael Romani There before my eyes As I look And with really no surprise I see the words of John Jay Who was heard to say When asked for his final words That his thoughts on all that's occurred Are that all words needed are with the Book For in choosing a nation's path to liberty And taking the passage away from tyranny It is his view and that of the observant That our rulers of state are meant to be servants And those who violate the rights that God gave Ingloriously pass us under the yoke that does enslave Betrayed by our representatives to lesser passions That resemble the despotic at the sake of compassion Trodding on through a thick sea of blood Toward that sweet land of American liberty We crawl from the bondage of quicksand mud To escape the oppression of tyranny In God's outstretched arms we find our refuge Away from the crumbling violations that will not budge Delivering us into justice's fair, sweet mercy And away from the cruel despots' foul heresy When loyal citizens are subjected to treachery It can come to feel like absolute slavery In these days when conscience seems so blind The strong must be undaunted against the unkind Remaining unanimously determined, ready and free Refining their cause to the justice of the Almighty In a glorious revolution distinguished by Divine interposition We are inflamed and kindled to fight the tyrant's imposition (c) May 17, 2017 Michael Romani
