Wednesday Night Sermon time again! This time the sermon centered on 1 Peter 14. Somehow that translated into a meaningful sermon that might be best captioned ‘Spiritual Triage’. From it sprang this poem:
Spiritual Triage by Michael Romani Making precious diamonds out of dust Bringing victory out of muddled rust It brings a beautiful sort of soulful shine As His love pours out so intensely divine The glory of God comes resting on you In what you say, think and the things you do The hardships felt and all of that old sad pain Are growth we feel and seldom are in vain A responsible sort of consequential evaluation Determines the course of travel to our destination Insulted in the name of Christ, we find we're blessed Though at the time we would never have guessed
There's the truth of reaping what we come to sow We bear the fruits of the things we come to grow Enduring hardships of Christ and of consequence The answer is echoed back from loving Providence There is that small matter of self responsibility Expected only to the extent our best abilities Pursuit of wrong priorities lead to only one resolution Asking the right questions in humbled confession Knowing full well that that we must also come to repent Rejecting the very wrong that we once gave our consent In a change of mind, heart and rebellious attitude Receiving sacred forgiveness in a spirit of sincere gratitude
There's nothing new here and little reason to be shocked Only words of deep truth that we have sincerely talked Some things are a result of consequence and some of trial Both of these feel like we're enduring our longest mile Still there is the need to be willing to accept rightful blame Calling it out boldly even if in so doing we call out our name We sit here listening in no sort of heedless contemplation Falling for so many wrongs and too many temptations Thankfully, God delivers us all from our failures and misdeeds The love of God reaches out and plants these good seeds In prayerful supplication we come to our deeply bended knees Spiritually running back to the comfort of the ways that please (c) May 31, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
