Motor City Lines
by Michael Romani
The eyes of her face
Put the beams into place
A snug imparting of soul
Before these wheels will roll
Looking deep into the car
As she smiles and looks back
Maybe dreaming of a mile too far
But, there's nothing she will lack
There's a sweet connection
As she projects my personality
Holding up under inspection
In a high powered drive into my reality

We keep on upping each other's best game
Aiming high, in white heat, looking so good
It's the cool sheen behind the corporate name
That injects the carbs under this hood
Scrappy bit of Detroit jives and innovates
Sand down the glaze as it reinvigorates
A stab at reengineering the future
All those parts of little boys, mama didn't nurture
Though nothing ever lasts forever
The theme line grabs on to hold it together
Sketched in three lines that hold the wheels
It's a highway star as real as it feels
