Inspired from a sermon based on James 4:2 Asking What You Need by Michael Romani It's all those things that attract us All the ways that we put into practice Showing our care in special ways Living love faithfully in all of our days There we are expecting and tasking What we should humbly be asking Getting this when we pray His will Instead of tilting at those windmills So much depends on capability It's a small matter of responsibility God knows what is truly best Giving us accordingly and not to test What are the right things to ask for? That which we need and not much more To help us handle the burdens and come Not beating cadence on a beggar's drum To find out what this is for each of us Does not take all that much fuss But to get a moment of thinking quietude Spent in prayerful moments of solitude Taking on the gentle yoke of guidance All the wisdom and strength from Providence Given like the sandpaper of sanctification That acts to refine us into our destination Toiling in the sweet labors of love Taking our lead from our God above Learning the things that we truly need This is the nourishment on which we feed Yoked up with Christ in a spiritual scramble Like words of wisdom in a preacher's ramble These then are the true ways of praise That which we best live in our mortal days Prayer being that special two way communication Fitting us to prepare for our spiritual destination Humbled in the words of humbled supplication Offered up in a near ceaseless sense of dedication (c) June 14, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
