The Camera's Eye by Michael Romani A camera is a tool of simplicity Through its eye the world takes shape Images taken form the world for me A connection of feelings we can't escape There in a combination of spirit and soul It transforms until the image takes control Shining through as though its own design Blending a concrete world into something sublime Just as a human eye is known to reveal the soul The camera reveals the world in its digital role Even in the concrete depths of New York City Where graffiti paints walls unwashed and gritty More often than not, it's the lighting and texture That brings about the synthesized bits of conjecture Where taking a portrait is a capturing of magic Catching a person's essence, from happy to tragic There is a power in that focal point squared There in the depth of field that shows there A graphic composition that appears as though fearless One of a kind, very unique and even peerless The human condition is a solitary soul complex With individual moral compasses that somehow connects Each life a series of successes and of failure Each of us together on this ocean; each a sailor The opening of self has to be struggled for and earned Although flying this high and close can get you burned Like a sunflower opening up and reaching for that light It is the power in compassion that burns so very bright Pressing ever forward on into its own illumination The face of each wears a sense of storybook fascination There in an expression of humanity being faced Is the portrait of another's life openly embraced (c) June 26, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserve
