Intimacy of Connection

There in the camera's click
Is that silent subtle trick
It rests in an intimacy
That to be put quite delicately
Is an intimacy of connection
Brought by the artist's dedication

A dedication of story telling
That goes beyond its revealing
Of the subject's inner spirit
And the artist's ability to hear it
It's a circular intimacy of connection
Through the artist's subtle direction

Maintaining a closeness in the feeling
Captured in the subject's soul revealing
Revealing the specialness of the each
Magically caught by the camera's reach
It creates a certain sense of empathy
To each, the other in another's sympathy

It is this empathy that opens up the door
To explore that which is so much more
There open for all to see is that mystery
Known throughout all of artistic history
That an artist must move beyond façade
Be it in imperial majesty or simple sod

Shooting from the hip, looking for the truth
These are the ways of a well spent youth
Where integrity beats polished illusion
Peaks of truth break through clouded confusion
That's where the artist goes beyond his duty
And unravels the soul that is the real beauty
