Transfiguration (Of the Son)
by Michael Romani

I guess I'm just asking why do you hate
What we all know that our God loves?
No need to procrastinate or complicate
With all the verbal pushes and shoves
But there is one thing that we need
We need to move going forward and proceed
With putting on holiness found in the Lord
Using His Word like shield and sword
Dangling pearls of great price
His teaching and learning device

The Devil keeps on deceiving
Mankind stumbles in our believing
Wondering who to say he is
Thinking we lost what we miss
In the world games too often played
The ignorance too often displayed
Christ is not Jesus' last name
And stumbling is not the shame
Keeping eyes fixed on the Anointed One
Completing what the Father has begun

Despite all of our generation's perversity
We pray and ask for mercy for our family
Lacking the faith of even a small mustard seed
We mostly only care for our own needs
Still those who follow all of the Lord's ways
Are known to faithfully keep His days
And quietly offer shelter as only a Church can
To every wayward child, be it woman or man
In this measure of time that we call eternity
There isn't much that speaks more to immortality

Than these things we are so fully shown and taught
It is this Holy Spirit that we should all be caught
Up in that moment of blessed transfiguration
Moses, Elijah and Jesus have held contemplation
On that day when the Lord's face shone like the sun
Knowing the full weight and measure before it's done
Each world of holiness felt like a touch in the heart
And there it is like it's always been from the start
The best and purest way of putting away our sin
Is to become part of those who Jesus is indwelling in
