Holinshed’s Chronicles of England, Scotland and Ireland also known simply as Holinshed’s Chronicles is a multi-volume comprehensive history of the British Isles. It was published in two editions. The first in 1577. The second in 1587. Its importance today lies in its links to the plays by William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe.
