Last night’s sermon was centered on 1 Peter 4:7. This reads as:

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
Being ever mindful of this and the surrounding verses, from this and the sermon, I came up with the following poem:
Unschackled by Michael Romani Shackled under a burden of sin Trying to find my way out There it is again and again Filling my heart with doubt Until Jesus offers His hand Helping me to understand Without much of a contention Fear gets my raw attention Alerting me to address my need To what it takes to be freed Lifting me up beyond my dread Clearing me past what's in my head I have no time to be locked and frozen Or to spend my life by just dozing But instead to live with a sound mind Leaving all sense of dread behind Kneeling instead in solemn prayer Moving beyond the isolation there The surrounding world is such a mess Dwelling in madness I must confess But God gives us needed clarity Lived in power and with great integrity Living not in fear but in mighty power To pass through the darkest hour I will live soberly and clear headed Moving beyond the creep so dreaded No longer victim of vain imagination Caught up in negative infatuation But knowing right from sinful wrong Knowing precisely where I do belong (c) July 19, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
