Tonight’s sermon was based on Matthew 4:1-3. This poem is based on the sermon at the beach:
Faced With Temptation by Michael Romani Jesus was led by the Spirit To face the Devil's temptation Still He would not hear it Given the divine interpretation That allowed Him to see Through eyes beautiful and holy It's a faith of the deeply practical Kept within the lost yet sacramental Jesus felt the hunger of fleshly need Faced with sin's pull by human deeds The Devil called out His Divinity Placing doubt in His Father's theology Shielded by the Fathers' very word Facing off the evil, but, it never occurred To use His Father's holy name in vain Refusing to bow down to the unholy strain Susceptible to all the Devil proffered Standing fast against everything offered Said in blind faith and quiet diffidence There in blessed assurance and the confidence In the power of faith given in God's word Spoken in clarity that is never blurred And there we place our faithful trust Keeping the path because we know we must (c) July 26, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserve
