“We hold these truths to be self-evident . . . that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, and among these life . . .”
~ Declaration of Independence

After struggling with what to say exactly about Charlie Gard, I can only offer much sadness and prayers for him and his surviving parents. How terribly sad it is that this has happened.
For those in the United States that say there will be no death panel decisions made if we keep the ACA in tact, I point at this and ask that they observe. Yes, there were arguments made about the futility of continuing to try to help the child out. But, what thing is certain. Once a child is dead, they are beyond any chance of help. Yes, Charlie Gard was in pain. I get that. I also get wanting to stop the pain. It’s stopped alright. What a monstrous way of ensuring that.
Goodbye young Charlie! May your toy monkeys and your loving God offer and give you the comfort that life did not.
