The Harvard Classics contains a volume entitled English Poetry I: From Chaucer to Gray. Within this volume is a series of poems by the Scotch poet William Drummond. Drummond’s most important works are the Cypresse Grove and his poetry. His poetry is both philosophic and Christian in message and tone. These are works much in the vein of his courtier contemporaries and owe their style and voice to the English and Italian masters, especially Spenser.
