A Sort of Jazzy Sonnet
by Michael Romani
Lost in an abstraction of truth
I spent the morning with the jazz
That I loved so much in my youth
A rhythmic kick of funky pizzazz
Filled with that subtle incongruency
That illuminates my life with mystery
Those lilting, lifting melodic phrases
That still wafts through and amazes
I have so very much left to be done
Instead I linger here feeling stunned
How each note falls right into pocket
If you haven't heard, please don't knock it
The question is "So What" if I "Take Five"
Taking this moment to acknowledge feeling alive
