Great American Eclipse
by Michael Romani

Monumental crowds wait in expectation
Joined in the sensational celebration
Excited smiled curve on all the lips
In a once in a lifetime total eclipse
There is a path of projected totality
It is the first of its kind in nearly a century

August 21st, 2017, blots its way into history
Though science has removed much of its mystery
Crowds gather to see the Great American Eclipse
As murmurs escape from the watchers' lips
Darkness lasting only two to three minutes in a spot
As the moon dances and races in her timeless blot

It's a cosmic spectacle of happy incredulity
This Great American Eclipse's path of totality
A moment that will live on in its sentimentality
For we observers of this moment in history
Such as the Shawnee Forest bathed in lingering darkness
It's a Kodak moment of beautiful starkness

I’ll leave it to someone else to explain how a Brooklyn Law Professor projected this into a racist event .. shaking my head at this one….
