First Principles: Action Plan – Engagement

Velvet Design -As American As Mom & Apple Pie

After considerable thought and watching how  American principles are again and again being usurped by those who do not have any greater right to a voice in defining the future of America than we Americans who believe in the founding principles of our nation, I am embarking on an additional course.

No longer am I satisfied in simply presenting the First Principles of our Founding Fathers.  Now, like perhaps almost no other time in the past, it is a time for principled, civil action.  We cannot simply be lambs led to a slaughter.  It’s time to politely roar like the lions we are.

We the people are not a basket full of deplorables.  We are honorable citizens, some Christian, some not.  All with a mandate.  That mandate is to stand up for our freedoms and our America.

Those of us who are Christian have certain Biblical requirements on us.  These are as follows.  We must pay our taxes. (Romans 13:6-7)  Which is not to say we should not be working diligently on reducing them as well as the costs of governance. We must pray for our government. (1 Tim 2:1-3 and Proverbs 21:1) We must be steadfast in praising our republic. (Romans 13:7 and 1 Peter 2:17).  Patriotism at least to the extent of honoring our country where and when such honor is due is Biblical.  We must preach to our country, refusing to be silent.  This is particularly true in that what is morally wrong cannot be politically right.  We  must participate in our government.  (Mark 12:17)  Our allegiance should be to God, Family and Country.

With all of this in mind, what then might we do?

  1. Engage – Join like minded citizens in organizations that support these causes and keep up to date with events and issues going on and find out where you might join your voice to the voices of your fellow citizens to effect positive results.
  2. Join On A Local Level – This can be in a myriad of forms – school boards, parent groups, civic groups all of which are the nuts and bolts of our American Experiment.
  3. Contact Your Representatives – Email, Phone, take advantage of in person and social media events to exchange information and advocate your interests.

In this manner, we will grow a revival of American principled culture and stand up against those who would call us deplorable for believing in those beliefs that our country is based on.  Do not forget our history.  Be part of our future.  I suppose a basket full of diligent deplorables might just shake things up back to the way things maybe ought to be…
