This past Tuesday’s Short Form Poetry Workshop was devoted to a special genre of weather orientated poetry. The first of two that I wrote that night is Autumn Eases In. I think I wrote it as much in avoidance of the horrible storms the US is currently encountering as I did in preference for the topics I chose.
Autumn Eases In by Michael Romani With a sneeze and a slight wheeze Caught in a cool Autumn breeze The branches of the trees Change their colors as they please The full moon is getting a nightful And the chills can be so frightful But with the rat-a -tat-tat of droplets falling where they're at The season has begun to change Into a mood that strikes so strange While lovers before a chimney fire Whisper words of love and desire The times are a changing their blanket Of leaves on the ground, as we thank it Autumn closes in to touch again and again And chills us into comfort like an old friend (c) September 5, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
