First Principles: Almost Everything Worthwhile Takes Time

“We know the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm?” —John Page (1776)

shortly after the Declaration of Independence was signed, Governor Page of Virginia said this to Thomas Jefferson.  These words of encouragement stand still as sage advice.

We seek to overturn eight years of disregard for law and order.  To further complicate things, an imperfect president deals with a swamp that is extremely willful in its desire not to be drained.  I am not sure that even a saint could hold up to the storm the current administration is up against.  And, yes, it doesn’t help that Trump manages to alienate his natural allies over and over again.

We’ll see how this turns out.  I’ll be happy if we just return the Federal bench to Judges and Justices who follow the Rule of Law.
