Home Sweet Home - Sunrise From Our Balcony

Prayer Answered
by Michael Romani

Waking up to another Indiana sunrise
Wiping the sleep from my happier eyes
Having dreamed of places that shaped me
To the happiness of my beautiful family

How I love to watch my princesses grow
Listening to them about all they know
And the hopes and plans they dream on
Remembering when life was a once upon

I realize that I have more that I guessed
With a cuddled good morning, I know I am blessed
These princesses are my every thing
I love when they wake up wanting to sing

When they are here, our home is our castle
Faraway from the darkness and hassle
Filled with the love and laughter
And all those good things that I'm after

The sincerest compliment a dad could hear
Is what my youngest said when she was near
When she grows up she wants to just like me
Well, without the cussing if that can be

I laugh as we agree that I always say
That I too would like that to go away
A bad habit that comes when I am stressed
I own this flaw and tell them to get dressed

And from the other room, I hear her giggle and say
"Daddy, you don't cuss often any way"
And I apologize again and tell them I love them
Telling her she's right and her knowing is a win

I want them to be like the best of their father
But always be unique themselves as my daughters
I love every moment with them, every moment I get
Each blessed second is one I'll never forget

I love you echoes are what makes me thrive
Through all adversity; so glad to be still alive
And teach them all the best that I hope that I can
Knowing that they love me as their hero, Daddy Man

They tell me that they are growing up fast
I joke don't hurry it will soon enough be past
As I hold on each moment by moment as it unfurls
Ready for a day well spent with my little girls
