The Confusion In A Poet's Way
by Michael Romani
We wear our brands
Even when we don't understand
We poets soar
Not unlike a mouse's roar
Never quite knowing
The all that we're showing
Illuminating paths we don't see
Even when done incidentally
We stare into the cosmos
While questioning it almost
As if daring it to persist
Doubting sometimes if it exists
Hoping that something has meaning
Even if it is only in our dreaming
Caught up in life's ambiguity
And trying to translate it for you and me
Our words are but small change
Sometimes wicked; sometimes strange
For the deepest of our thoughts
Yet, we spend them selfishly as we ought
Contacts made in subtle contextual ways
In hope that together we make our days
Someplace where our souls will catch fire
Filled with love, laughter and desire
