Show Boat is a musical in two acts that featured music composed by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. This is based on Edna Ferber’s novel of the same name. The musical follows the lives of the performers, stagehands and dock workers on the Mississippi River show boat called the Cotton Blossom. Within this telling are themes of racial prejudice and tragically enduring love. Some of the classic songs from this musical are Ol’ Man River, Make Believe and Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man.
