In A Void of Grace
by Michael Romani
There is a constancy to aging with grace
While we watch the globe changing its face
Names that reveal more about our yesterdays
Telling more about our all too human ways
Than the places for which we choose names
It's only our human pride that makes this a shame
All of life is a preparation of death
In the end it is our faith and hope we have left
As we await all that will invariably come
That which cause us to fear and then some
But this too will surely come to be past
Nothing here is permanent; nothing will last
But, while we're here, let us live life's promise
Existing in this acceptable stoic premise
There is an exquisite sense to our human pain
This horrifying absence we fight against in vain
Avoiding that void we is to avoid nothing
And yet, it somehow slips into being everything
