X is an American punk band that originated in Los Angeles in 1977.  The original members were Exene Cervenka (vocalist), John Doe (vocalist/bassist), Billy Zoom (guitarist) and D.J. Bonebrake (drummer.  This first wave band of American punk put out seven studio albums between 1980 and 1993.  They then entered an inactive period  before reuniting in the early 2000s and still tours.

Although X only achieved limited mainstream success, they have been a significant influence on punk and folk rock.  Los Angeles and Wild Gift have been ranked by Rolling Stone as among the top 500 albums of all time.

Wild Gift was released by X as its second studio album in 1981.  On a scale of one through 10, Aloha Promises Forever gives this a respectable 7.
