Simple lessons teach
Finding them in my reach
I pose my independence
Quietly spoken in confidence

I am totally dependent
No longer willingly diffident

Coming in all humility
Increasing in our unity
We are one family
Born in love and mercy

It's all relational
Deeply intentional
Bringing this together
Here as we gather

I got to do this thing for me
You have to do this thing for you
Called by name for all to see
This is the thing that you must do

Each of us hears the calling
Each of us falls into the falling
Keeping the deeper vision alive
Until the voice of God arrives

Praying without ceasing
My spirit never releasing
Always living in the telling
Of His presence, indwelling

Rising above the misery
A bigger picture of history
The one that really matters
And all of my illusions shatter
