Make Me A Servant

Moving from the ways of the deceiver
I want to be God's go to receiver
Use me, Lord, in all of my future days
Raise me, Lord, to serve in all of my ways

Peter was such a man who served this way
He'd still be doing it if he was alive today
This is the kind of man I want to truly be
The model servant to spread God's theology

I have made up my mind to keep this decision
And so I will follow His ways with great precision
Keeping myself on track and acting right
Keeping from the darkness and spreading light

A finished product of the Cross at Calvary
Living to extend those blessings that are Holy
I speak the truth in not just words but in action
Pursuing my spiritual path to God's satisfaction

I am offering up the best of my capabilities
Serving all the best of my God given abilities
Taking every bit of my life with glad responsibility
Knowing my every step is subject to accountability

Spending time with Father God in sacred prayer
Conversing with Him in reverence beyond compare
The best work will done in a background of shadow
The spotlight is not needed in the places we will go

There is a serious business in this battled spirituality
Best fought in solitude and with great partiality
There's a lot done behind the passing scenes
Such is the way of us flawed but love human beings

Shine a light in the place you were meant to bloom
Stressing the good and decreasing the gloom
It takes staying power to make these things last
Taking each stride whether slow or a little to fast

It takes never quitting just because it's rough
It takes staying around until you've had enough
Moving on through instead of falling for the bluff
it takes following God and daring to be tough

So there you have my plan with quiet confidence
Committing my life for His greatest excellence
It remains my prayer to be His servant humbly
Spreading the loving peace and truth of this theology
