All fumbles around you, I was quietly wondering
If you might see past all of my careless blundering
Star struck in awe with all you seemed and seem to me
Feeling hopeless about venturing rather trepidatiously
While you waited gingerly hoping that I might ask
And see the real you beyond the trappings of a public mask
That you wore for the occasion as an unneeded disguise
I have loved you since I first looked into your eyes
And there we were and so I asked if you might dance with me
Despite how badly I had mangled solid lines of poetry
A dreamy Ginger Rogers in silk dress and high heels
I am no Fred Astaire as my moves often reveal
When I asked you to dance with me, I meant for life
And somehow you graced me with love and became my wife
