Amazon Canopy

Morning melodies float across the jungle canopy
Soft and low, almost close to soft temerity
As it stretches across the mighty Amazon
It's seen for its endless beauty going on and on

So large that it creates half of its own rainfall
A third of all life is found here, as I recall
This life runs wild from tree top to dark forest floor
From the skies to the waters and so much more

It's a jigsaw menagerie of diverse and beautiful life
Full of rule of the jungle energy and filled with strife
While driving it all is the mightiest river on Earth
From west to east, the raging waters have wide girth

Straddling the equator, permanently hot and wet
The ideal conditions for life's best of best bets
Unrivaled in its highly specialized biodiversity
As the afternoon's sun beats beams down among the trees

The sun rises on each of the coming new days
It is a green Eden in every conceivable way
The lungs of the world are found here
In this land of challenging plenty found there
