Today, I was requested by two long time friends that I consider family to contribute to a sermon that was given this morning. It was very flattering. I certainly hope that my dashed off poem added rather than took away from his message. As I recall now, the reading was based on Isaiah 9 and it’s promise that God will deliver His people from darkness. I wish I had written it down.
Sadly, after going without sufficient oxygen for a couple of years, my memory is not what it should be or was. The joys, I suppose of having been exposed to the wrong chemicals while in the military. Who knew until its toxicity hit me some decades later right? Sarcoidosis is such an odd thing. But, I’m still standing.
A story for another time. My hope today is that the following did some service to my friend’s service. To touch even one soul and influence and encourage is in my estimate the best my deeply flawed soul can hope for.
Delivered From Darkness by Michael Romani Embracing the darkness, we lose clear focus Forgetting that God should remain our locus Until the Gospel falls into place, shining it's light Deliverance provided in the Son, takes us from night Emmanuel, God walked among us, on that early morn When a silent night gave away to the Child being born Our counselor of peace born into a manger of humility None but the angels and the holy, could see His divinity False prophets try to tell another sort of a tale And if the blind cannot see maybe it's just as well For none but the searching will find the hope of redemption Our blessed Jesus should be our deepest contemplation Let those who can hear open their ears in all our years Unafraid to know the truth and strong enough for the tears (c) December 10, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
