A Suffering of Purpose

Seven Days - Painted Into A Corner By Thinking

A Suffering of Purpose
by Michael Romani

Suffering and injustice, as we live this
Teach us empathy and forgiveness
Acceptance, even when not sedate
Is the path of living under divine fate

All of us in our startling humanity
Face life with our boldest dignity
It's the moments of kindness and cruelty
That test our belief in God's sovereignty

Generation after living generation
Grows through each new sensation
Acts of betrayal change our lives completely
Twisting our paths as they cut us deeply

There is a higher purpose in this suffering
As we decline revenge with much mental buffering
The harm meant can be turned to good
If only we incorporate this as understood

There is an optimism in seeking reason
And believing in the passion behind this season
It is in part the imperative of moral justice
That seeks to make our praxis, life lived in niceness
