A Drummer's Epiphany
by Michael Romani
Twelve drummers drumming see, watch and agree
That the sum of the Apostle's Creed is the Epiphany
January Sixth the baby's birth gifts are given
The rest is the sum of history in which we live in
Three Kings Day celebrates that sacred revelation
The moment when God as Jesus Christ came incarnation
The visitation of the magi sparks the imagination
To the gentiles Christ's birth was given manifestation
There on the eastern shore of the Jordan River
Was the site of the baptism of our sacred redeemer
Where just before in the celebration of the Twelfth Night
Mankind's redemption sparked as the sacred came to sight
There in observance of the baby Jesus' humble cry
Was the taking down of decorations with a saddened sigh
We know then that all of this creed is sacred to heart
It is just as much today as it was at the very start
The appearance of dawn came with the birth of the Son
To war with the enemy; the adversary needing undone
There in this sacred day of holy and cherished light
Was the simple truth that would quench the darkest night
