Certain Kind of Magic
by Michael Romani
Love is a certain kind of magic
Often cruel and sometimes tragic
Yet, we would give everything
For one more minute to sing
To sing its praises on high
Though, other times we wished we might die
In the silence composed of words unspoken
We can find the vowels and vows unbroken
That make up the world's melody
It wishes, always wishes, for the echoed harmony
Rendered into the sadness it contains
Followed through with loss, it maintains
One cannot fear these words; nor resent
Because one's heart is given readily with consent
To abstain is in a sense to be guilty
I am equally certain that it would kill me
The birthplace of my heart was in poetry
I do believe without it, I wouldn't know me
I believe it is easy to think on noble things
As long as we are unafraid of what tomorrow brings
It is that which transforms us into who we are
If only we have the courage to dream that far...
