Cupid's Drawn Bow
by Michael Romani

Armed with a magic bow
He pierces the hearts that know
Mischievous with desire
He aims to set passions on fire

Gods and humans fall in love
With Eros and thoughts of ...
Of all the mysterious things
That make souls sing

Child to mighty Aphrodite
His mortal bride loved him shyly
Until the day she chanced to look
And in so doing closed the book

Stolid plot in sterling motion
Rush of shoreline crash of ocean
Wounded by weapons of own ordeal
A heart is meant to give; not to steal

Listening to the siren's sweet song
Finding that moment where we belong
It's said that love conquers all
And it is ours if only we choose to recall

All of those things meant celebratory
Seeming punishments when retaliatory
Older than time is this love torn entity
And in your arms, I find my divinity
