Time Spent With the Harvard Classics: Treaty of Ghent (1814)

The Treaty of Ghent was the peace treaty ending the War of 1812 between the United States of America and the United Kingdom.  Signed by both sides on December 24, 1814, in the city of Ghent, Belgium.  The treaty restores relations to the two nations to that status quo ante bellum and restoring the borders before the war started in June of 1812.
