The challenge today is to write a poem in either a different voice or multiple voices. Listening to the tiny voices inside my head, I’ve gone with voices…..and so that I am caught up…
With This Moment by Michael Romani He: I see you standing there Wanting to hold you near Whispering words of love Hoping its me you think of Inside I tremble slightly Daring to hope you want me She: Boy, why don't you just move along You with your words, wine and song Don't tempt me with your words of love I know your kind and what you speak of Do not think me just another pretty face If you do, I will surely put you in your place He: I know that I too seldom get things right But, you are so beautiful in the moonlight If God might grant me the right words to say I hope for more than one night's shadow play I can see there's more to you than fashion So much more than can be shown in a night's passion She: Don't waste your and my sweet precious time It will take a true heart and not just rhyme To get beyond my unmeant and staid smile You might promise love but I'll give you denial I have heard a thousand lines to get one thing If you want to get somewhere, tell me what you bring He: I am just a poor boy whose gift is my song Seeking just for once to maybe truly belong It seems that you have been hurt bad before But that's no reason for you to show me the door If I tell you that I love you that's what I mean And I tell you now you are my living dream She: If you keep turning my heart, we'll find This darkness left somewhere far behind Greeting the rise of the new day's sun And maybe, just maybe, our new love begun Hurry boy, or you may just find you'll miss I have changed my mind and am waiting for your kiss He: I am finding myself so entranced and drawn Wishing only to follow your light into the dawn Holding you close; much closer than I thought I might There at the beginning of this magical night Waiting to wet your sweet lips with my slow kiss I stare there admiring their passionate gliss She: With this moment, we two are joined to become one This indecision and uncertainty put aside and one Come here boy and tell me that you will be my man Together we will do these things the best that we can Accept my love and I will take yours as mine too Tell me now that this is what we will and you want it true He: With this moment, we two are joined to become as one Pushed aside indecision in confidence as we are one Side by side we will walk and I will be your man Together we will do these things the best that we can Accept my love and I will take yours as mine too Tell me now that this is what we will and you want it true (c) April 2, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
