Na/GloPoWriMo 6: Comprehending the Asylum

The challenge for day 6 is to compose a poem of uneven lines.  Having sat through a standup comic’s routine and finding some tantalizing insights in his skits, I came up with this.

Immaterial - The Lovely Ones Surrrealistically Flirt With Paulina

Comprehending the Asylum
by Michael Romani

Outside
     The asylum
The crazies
      Look in
Uncomprehending
       Their world is upending
Heads are spinning

No one is winning
       Only it's not a game
Hasn't been since the beginning
And all of us are to blame

To blame...
       In all of our innocence
This river is never the same
Even when stepped in in pretense

Rub the bottle
           Proceed at full throttle
Never believing in infinite wishes
           But the salesman pitches
That maybe we could have infinite genies...
