Taking a long view of it over all

We find that we have had quite the haul

But as long as we are dishing

Let’s talk a little about overfishing

Like all first takes at technology

We overfished ourselves into a travesty

And in so doing proved a finer contention

That mankind is capable of wise intervention

Thoughtful management can bring it back

And take us from the ledge of total lack

Slinking back from all the pessimism

We find we have good cause for optimism

In this age of 21st century discovery

Global fisheries are making a recovery
