If You Are Real

Whispered words fluttered past my mind
Now filled with wonder, I turned to find
A curious blend of a bit of everything
Of the things that make my heart sing

I don't say words like these too often
Less still does my heart fall and soften
But, there is just something about you
That makes me pray God above that you are true

Because, you see, if you are real
I would never have to dream again
I suppose that's true and the deal
That you might be my lover and my friend

Because, you see, I hope you are real
And that I will never have to dream again
One sweet kiss might be enough to reveal
If, indeed, you are my lover and my friend

As we danced tonight, I said too many things
Careless in my hopes of what tomorrow brings
Enchanted by your beautiful sense of style
It was all I could do to do more than smile

It is not every day that a man's dream girl
Allows him the chance to give her a whirl 
Out on the dance floor, looking into my eyes
And there you are, what a wonderful surprise

Because, you see, if you are real
