“The ultimate authority … resides in the people alone. … [T]he advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation … forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any…” — James Madison, 1788

Do not be fooled by those who seem the disarmament of the People. The right to bear arms is to do with standing in self defense and against tyranny. It is not about hunting, target shooting or even state militias. The sentiment about this inalienable right given by God rests on the fundamental precept that each citizen should be well trained in the use of arms and make up the militia as defined in the Constitutional convention’s own notes.
These principles continue to exist as much or perhaps even more so than they did then. We must never surrender this right. More, we must remember that ultimately it is up to us to defend ourselves with everything we have at our disposal. Otherwise, what we have is a nation of sheep willingly led to slaughter as witnessed by the news banners of today.
