There are places in this world where pessimism
Is more than the flip side of joyful optimism
And where harsh words of vehement criticism
Erases every positive element of humanism
When we look down these dark alleys of pallor
We know that we’ve met mankind’s darkest hour
There are places where every breath of life
Is just another moment of bloody, heated strife
We need to stop before we swoop down to judge
People seeking to escape oppression that won’t budge
Forgiveness is the path forward against those
Who cave to temptations that are not truly chose
Extended hands shaking in perverse trembles of fear
Offer a hand up instead of a callous half sneer
Part of taking and making America great again
Might rest in remembering the way of the Samaritan
