If you listen very closely as you take a walk
Taking those moments to listen to the park
You will find there is an opera in the wild
I have known this since a free and ranging child
Live these moments free from the stove top
From the oceans to the highest mountain top
The music rings out just waiting to be heard
From the bull frog to the owl; at first it seems absurd
Until you open your heart and really listen
Under the canopy of trees that shelter and glisten
It isn’t the animals that have forgotten how to sing
But it’s lost in our presumed complexity that we bring
There is a trust to regain though it remains unspoken
That trust is the music of life we humans have broken
