To Obey God

Changing the world one prayer at a time
Songs of praise are sung line by line
Life's circumstances can hit us hard
Still we play it card after card

We can build it up or tear it down
Serving like kings in jesters' crowns
In all of our prevailing points of view
Were God given to me and to you

We live with ourselves in the mirror's glass
Doing out best to give life our best pass
To build a kingdom on the strength of love
We live to shine Heaven from above

We have no need to change our disposition
In our patterns twisted in their imposition
God created each of us to be who we are
I point out while strumming my guitar

Forced to reckon in a world of differences
We live charging headlong into preferences
That sometimes do not seem quite right
But we must do so while shining our best light

Living to better connect and not contradict
Bringing thoughts captive to predict
A walk with the others in our lives with peace
By living this prayer, we gain God's sweet release
