In Rumi’s pond, waded a pinkish flamingo
Whose presence was as a belly dancer’s shadow
The eye of Ra became its own perception of light
As a sensuous beat flowed from the palace into the night
Fatima dances while warding off the evil of jealousy
By telling her story as she moves and each note embodies
The lotus flower blossoms from an infinite ocean
In which the Gods burned into a realm of emotions
This flower of Lilith speaks silently of unification
In its ancient rite of majestic and holy purification
While the phoenix is reborn and rises in its brilliance
So the fables tell us and we hold this in faith and reliance
The boy weeps and his tears become mankind
Whispering the sadness that humanity remains willfully blind
