Last Sunday was a day of recognition and honor for women on an international level.  When you think about it and all that women have done for us in all of their roles, shouldn’t every day be one?

Her Legacy

You have to give a woman
Space enough to dream
After surviving any way she can
You have to allow her, her own scene

Surviving and dreaming
Are two separate things
Happiness will leave her beaming
Hinting at the melody her heart sings

The choices made will define
The truth that will be her legacy
The voices heard will help refine
That which will become her dignity

Challenges come and challenges go
But life continues as they say
And so like ducks in a row
She shoots them down along her way

Finally, acknowledging her act and desire
She reaches out for something more
Her mind and heart are sparking their fire
As she reaches to open her own doors

Articulated tensions lay out the stakes
As life tests her resolve in testable measure
She's gonna get it right despite the mistakes
Her every step is toward this splendid treasure

Her dreams are the dreams of freedom
Inspired by a lifetime shackled to reality
These dreams offer the keys to her kingdom
As she willingly pays the passage to her fantasy
