Seems a common characteristic in humanity that we have this propensity toward self destruction. This was brought to mind in a movie that I was watching earlier today.
Impulsive Inclinations by Michael Romani In our life's traveling Some find themselves unraveling There is a sense of distinction In a self destructive inclination Finding our way to drinking Dragged there by the bottle's overthinking Wondering at the meaning Of our short time here as human beings Is it just another trick of light That spirals us past the corridors of midnight Impulses rule over clear decisions Lifetimes spent dwelling on imprecisions We do our best to lock out the bad Laugh ourselves silly to keep out the sad Struggling hard to keep things light We hold onto the good times hugging them tight It's what we have in our days Holding on to self taught ways Until there's one drink too many And we slip into the self destruction of plenty Controlled by impulses that once felt good Spiraling out past the understood Being our best woman or man Suddenly, self aware that there isn't a real plan (c) November 12, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
